The Different Story Types

Yes, stories have different types. They're like species, or breeds. Now, let's move on to the first one I am going to introduce you to:

Fables:
Fables are stories that uses the forces of nature to exaggerate a moral, or to point out a moral. By 'forces of nature', I mean that they use animals with human qualities or plants that can talk, or objects that can't do anything (like wood, pots, water, wind, etc.). Fables are often short, but still get the point across. A Greek man, Aesop, had made many famous fables that you may know of today.

Tall Tales:
Tall tales are stories that seem like the narrator is part of it. Tall tales are also stories that exaggerate deeds and stuff. Have you ever heard of something called 'The Fish that Got Away'? These kinds of stories are usually in history that don't date back to where myths come from. Some of them are quite humorous and witty.

Myths:
Myths are stories that are almost fantasy-like. They explain how the world came to be and the many devious things something did to someone or something else. It is sometimes written as a traditional story of history. But myths contain mythical creatures, such as unicorns, dragons, elves, fairies, etc.

Folklore:
Folklore can have religious and/or mythical elements. They are associated with everyday, traditional life. It can be long or short.

Legends:
Legends and myths are usually mistaken and are mixed together. The difference is this: stories that tell of human experiences that have no happenings outside the world of possibility. That is, legends are more realistic and there are miracles that seem to really happen. Please don't mix these two up.

Novels:
Novels are books that are at least over 800 pages. They are fictional stories.

So, that's it! If there are more story forms, gladly email me. Contact information can be found in the last page.

The Different Poetry Forms

Poetry of many forms have existed for such a long time. Like stories, they can consist of many elements, or are a certain length. Let us move on to their breeds of words and species of meaning:

Narrative:
